Buèges river takes its source on the commune of Pégairolles-de-Buèges, with the hamlet of Méjanel, by a karstic resurgence, draining part of water of the solid mass of Séranne and theis Causse of Larzac. This 12 km length river is thrown in Herault, after having disappeared in the rocks limestones on a few kilometers from course, reappearing on the surface only by abundant rain.
Dominated by Séranne mountain to 940 m with highest, and the causse of the Selle, its valley cut in the rock is a true haven of peace, paradise of strolls and the excursion.

Saint-Jean-de-Buèges, authentic medieval village nested in the valley of the buèges river which crosses the villages of Pégairolles-de-Buèges, Saint-Jean-de-Buèges and Saint-Andre-de-Buèges, is a place splendid and quiet, no surge of mass, it is the field of the amateurs of nature, uneven and beautiful images. One takes there also time to live on the terrace of single and small tavern of the valley.

With the foot of the Tras Castel rock which dominates of 100 m the village, nest the Castle of Baulx of XIIe XIIIe XIVe centuries, the remainders of enclosures of XIIIe XVe centuries and the keep of XIIe century.

Saint-Jean-de-Buèges is a french commune, located in the department of the Herault of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 184 Saint-Jeannais, distributed on 17 km², that is to say 11 hab./km².

Bonjour Joël,
tu es un bon chroniqueur graphique de la beauté des paysages et l'architecture du Sud de la France.
Tes photos sont un bon aimant pour voyager et pour visiter ces jolis lieux.
Dans cette prise ton haut PDV nous donne une grande sensation de liberté et de perspective sur la vallée, avec le village situé stratégiquement dans son fond.
C'est une belle réalisation.

jolie vallée! La définition de l'image dans les fait penser que nous sommes là en apprécier cette vue. Il aimerait voir quelque détail de petite ville et les images de ws satisfont ma volonté. Félicitations!

Bonjour Joel ,
Particulièrement heureux de voir cette image , car nous envisageons prochainement un séjour . Un décor magnifique autour de ce superbe petit village . En hiver , le lieu est il aussi verdoyant ? Car les feuillus ne semblent pas très nombreux . Et j'aime beaucoup les contrastes de la végétation avec le calcaire blanc .

Hi Joel,

A nearly perfect TE post. Your note is incredibly informative and useful and your workshop shows that you have developed the skill to know when to experiment and find alternate scenes. The composition here is strong having positioned the village and valley expertly. Minimizing the pale blue sky, but including just enough for context, was a good choice as well. The one down side for me is that I feel that this image was made during quite unflattering light. The harsh cold mid-day light just doesn't do the landscape justice. It would have been much better earlier or later (as valley shadows permit). I hope I have not offended as I mean only respectful honesty in my critique.

You always give us a very comprehensive feel for a place with the complementary WSs. The order of viewing them takes us ever closer in this case. All three images would make excellent main posts. This high POV works very well with the road placed in the frame to lead the eye into the valley.

This is a beautiful area and your have given us many fine shots of it!
Your composition is great here placing the town and castle in the center and including the rock face to the right. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. Nice use of the rule of thirds with the placement of the castle in the lower third of the frame.

c'est toujours un plaisir de lire tes notes bien documentées et de regarder tes WS qui sont souvent aussi bons que la photo presentée, ici c'est le cas , car je préfère le 1er WS sans le ciel, et a mon avis , la lumière semble meilleure sur ce cliché.

Encore une perle ce relief du Languedoc-Roussillon.Ce village en contre-bas parait protégé par les éléments naturels,c'est l'impression que cela me donne en regardant cette compo.Comme d'habitude,une note et des liens riches.

Great scenery here. Barren yet very colorful. The town nestled in the rocks is a great subject, but the countryside alone would have been enough for me. Technically well managed - sharpness, colors, etc, all fine.

les larges angles et les vues panoramiques sont difficile a rater, mais le succes n'est pas garanti. La tienne, elle est vraiment complete. Elle nous donne une idee precise sur ce charmant village de LR. Tres belle photo, sans trop elaborer. Merci d'avoir fait cet effort de monter au top pour nous montrer cette tres belle image. Bonjour Joël, très beau détaille du château de Baulx, il se fond dans la masse, tout comme le village de Saint-Jean-de Buèges accroché au rocher pour un décor hors norme cerné de cirque ou autre Causse bien typique de ces région proche des gorges, ta série sur ce village nous remplis déjà une bonne partie de ta galerie, cette année, comme pour l’année passée d’ailleurs, j’ai du annulé mes vacance, mais je m’étais fixer l’objectif de visiter la source de l'Hérault, le Causse Noir, Montpellier-le-Vieux,
Saint-Véran et Cantobre, Nant, les gorge de la Dourbie, Saint-Jean-du-Bruel, je ne sais si Saint-Jean-de-Buèges se trouve à quelque encablure de là, mais un jour j’espère parvenir à ne pas reporté ce voyage qui me tiens à cœur, en attendent je pense que cette vallée ne bougera pas, ainsi que sont belle environnement, bien amicalement
