Photographer’s Note

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées runs for 2 kilometres (1.25 miles) from the Place de la Concorde to the Place Charles de Gaulle, location of the Arc de Triomphe.

It is lined by greenery, luxury specialty shops and by prestigious buildings such as the Théâtre Marigny, the Grand Palais, the Petit Palais and the Elysée Palace - a little bit to the north, but not on the avenue itself.

The name refers to the Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology.
