Photographer’s Note

Sisteron, it is situated on the banks of the River Durance just after the confluences of the rivers Buech and Sasse. It is sometimes called the 'Porte de la Provence' (The Gateway to Provence) because it is in a narrow gap between two long mountain ridges (Baume/Gache and The Lure/Moulard).

tu n'as pas été aidé par le temps pour ce cliché mais à Sisteron que de belles chose à photographier n'est-ce pas...
il me semble que le cadrage demanderait à être affiné (un peu plus ou pas du tout de pont) et si tu peux repasse par un jour de vrai beau soleil!

tu as visité la citadelle où tu t'est contenté de la placette à l'entrée?
photo prise le 28 mai le barrage était plein à craquer je crois; j'y suis passé quatre jours plus tard et il était ouvert pour faire filler toute l'eau et tout ce qu'elle chariait.
tu me demandais d'où je suis; à 1 heure de Sisteron justement dans ce si beau département des Alpes de Haute Provence.

the shape of the rocky mountain is so special, it is a pity the weather did not offer anything special, nevertheless, nice picture

Many thanks for the good memories that this photo brings back. Sisteron was the first French town outside Paris that I visited in 1979. It was the start of a three weeks geological field trip through the Alpes. The trip started in Sisteron and ended at St. Raphael, Cote d’Azur. What a wonderful time it was!!!
For the photo, the washed sky is a pity but we can not control the weather. The POV is the classical view of Sisteron but yet it is fantastic.
