It's not often that I can add the 'food' category in my pictures...although I love it:).

These days I am in the mood for light things (food and the rest), so here a simple image of two little girls enjoying their ice creams. Somehow I do find the whole as a bit of an old-fashioned look, especially the one on the left, reminds me of my young days...

I thought of getting rid of those legs above in the frame but it did not look good, so I hope you will like it enough as it is. The sun was strong and bright and I've tried to enhance that in the b/w.

Originally a small hamlet of 10 families in 1810, it was the arrival of the first train on the Paris-Calais line to at Wimille-Wimereux in 1867 which signalled the beginnings of the significant growth of this community. By 1914, Wimereux had 50 Hotels and Pensions and 800 Villas. At the end of the war the development continued right up to 1920. In the 30’s the English clientele fell off but they were replaced by the locals who had come to love this delightful resort.

Although the Casino and many of the hotels and villas were destroyed in the Second World War, the reconstruction of Wimereux, slowly took place and the construction of its magnificent ‘Dig Espace’, featuring exhibitions of paintings by local artists, on the promenade in 1927 represented the highlight of these developments. Today, it is, as I told a few times before, a lovely resort that I can recommend warmly.

Dear Michele Gruber Caelen!
Very interesting scene.
Good shot.
Very dynamic composition.
TFS!

Hi Michele,
A nicely composed image of these two little ladies with their ice creams. It is an interesting shot, and as you said it does have an old-fashioned look. Is it the blue (?) and white striped dress, like an old fashioned swimming costume? Is it the unsmiling children - which seemed to be the norm back then in old photographs? Whatever, I am not sure. But I like this shot, which seems to have an odd 'old yet new' feel to it.

All the best, Casper

Black and white, chocolate and vanilla. Very good on a bright hot day. Don't get rid of the legs. They are what makes it good. Are you kidding? Nice one, Michèle. Best, -Hugh

Spero ti piaccia ugualmente.
Ciao
Paolo.

Hi Michele,

I like this unusual, original and experimental way of photographing.
The result is a picture with very much expression and a attractive composition.

Hi MIchele
Great expression on those two little faces. You can see how much they enjoy all those little things that kids no longer find enough. Good note, too

Hello Michele,
Last weekend i was browsing through some old photo's taken in the early sixties...yes i am that old :P
My older sister was one of those and she was licking an icecream. I had to smile, and seeing this picture i have to smile again...how nice, how classic. Taken May 2008, it could be also 1965...what a beauty...thanks for bringing back good memories.
Regards, Henk
