Capitolium - Pink City Center Photo

Photographer’s Note

Toulouse est surnommée la "ville rose" en raison de la couleur du matériau de construction traditionnel local, la brique de terre cuite.

La place du Capitole, d'une surface de 12.000 m², est située au centre de la ville, devant le bâtiment du Capitole (Capitolium), qui abrite la mairie.

La construction du bâtiment a duré deux siècles, du XVIIème au XIXème.
Sa façade a été bâtie en 10 ans, à partir de 1750, d'après des plans de Guillaume Cammas.

J'ai pris cette image avec l'appareil sur le sol de la place.

I took this shot with the camera laying on the ground of the square.

The camera on the ground gave it a very nice and original perspective and I like it. For the PP treatment, I am not that sure. The picture looks quite darkish for the nice day that the sky wants to tell us. I would like to see the original too.

Hello JB,

This is a nice shot. It look like an HDR image. Your low angle is very good in my opinion and the colours of the building add a dramatic effect to the composition. I do like the tight croping but I wonder what the image would look like with a bit more sky. Thanks :-)

Salut JB,
Le point de vue, au sol, est bien vu et donne beaucoup de profondeur à l'image. Ton traitement couleur personnalisé de l'image prend, par contre, un peu trop le dessus sur cette image.
Le rose en devient imperceptible...

Une vue rabaissée à l'extrème ! Cela donne l'étrange sensation d'être un insecte et de découvrir ce très beau batiment. Comme à ton habitude, tu as très bien géré les couleurs de l'ensemble !

placing the camera just on the ground gives your shot a strange very but interesting and attractive perspective.
I love the exposure - the sky is really beautiful.
I have bought a circ. polariser lately, but you are using also UV filter. Can you, please, suggest what effect it makes?

Olá JB, I like the idea and the interesting result. Like an arrow pointing to the entrance... The normal thing to do here would be using that dramatic sky (and problably you have that shot as well) but I like to see diferent experimentations. This ant's POV have some dramatism also.

Almost like a painting, or better said an artistic drawing in fat bold colours. the low pov gave you something extra, just as the people walking around. Nice detail is the French flag. Pushing of the blue sky helped you a lot here, great contrast.

J'aime bien celle-ci de par son point de vue au sol qui met en avant ces espèces de signes cabalistiques (?) au sol. Par contre je trouve que tu y es allé un peu fort sur le PP...ou bien était-ce l'effet recherché?

Une belle vue de Toulouse et de cet endroit emblématique ou le rose naturel est quelque peu estompé par tes couleurs maison. Un bon travail, dans un style toujours très personnel et de couleurs un peu déroutantes.

i like this low position shot with the shapes of the foreground to are in front of our eyes and to lead the glance to Capitolium.Really the hue of the colors is interesting as the frontage of the Pink City Center has presented perfect.I like the vivid colors and the light that make the scene more brilliant.Well done.

Tu as bien fait de poser l'apn sur le sol, cela en fait une belle image.Les teintes de briques sont bien visibles. Bravo pour la symetrie du symbol en avant.

Low pov works very well here thanks to the geometry on the ground. Focusing on the building and letting the foreground look soft was a good decision. Colors and sharpening are perhaps a bit too strong. Regards,

on pourra te repprocher un post processing un peu trop accentué, mais le résultat, ce sont des couleurs et des contrastes forts.

Un pdv au ras du sol bien vu, permettant de bien voir ses détails et qui entraine le regard sur le magnifique édifice mis en valeur par le PP. Les nombreuses fenêtres ainsi que les lignes blanches du Capitolium donnent un bon impact graphique...j'aime beaucoup le ciel chargé avec ses nuages, les couleurs et contraste.

Cette photo prise à ras les pâquerettes ou plutôt du pavé est superbe. J'aime cet effet du grand angle qui donne une vue de cinémascope. Les couleurs de la façade, du premier plan et du ciel sont magnifiques.

Camera on the ground, this low POV gives a very original perspective. The colours are fascinating as always, especially the richness of the dark reds & yellows against the blue polarised sky. But I'm not too sure about the OOF FG, is it a distraction or should it remain...I am in two minds really! But an excellent shot for sure!
