Ben's house

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French] |
"My house, you can't miss it, it is big, colorful, on the right just after the old terminal Michelin on the road to St.Pancrace"
Ben, whose real name Benjamin Vautier, is a French artist of Swiss origin, born July 18, 1935 in Naples, Italy.
He lives and works for many years on the heights of St. Pancrace, hill niçoise or his house, masterpiece of art brut, stands out in the neighbourhood.
At the end of 1950, it opens in Nice a small shop which he decorates the front of an accumulation of disparate objects, in which he sells used CDs. In her shop, or rather on the sidewalk are the main members of what is called the School of Nice: Cesar, Arman, Martial Raysse, Sosno, etc.. Near Yves Klein and seduced by the new realism, he developed the idea that "art must be new and provide a shock" (cf official website of Ben: The chronology of the School of Nice
The word, thought, slogan and writing are the basis of his work. Ben's writing has become his trademark and recognition.
In 2002, 2004 and 2005, he designed a few postage stamps semi-permanent french ( "This is an invitation", "A big thank you").
He was chosen to create the graphics accompanying the new tram stations Nice, which went into service in November 2007.
It also draws the new jersey Rugby Nice Cote d'Azur.

Salut Georges,
J'avais aimé son travail présenté au musée d'art moderne de Nice. Belle présentation de cette maison d'artiste. J'irai la voir cet été très certainement, tu m'en as donné envie.
Amicalement,
Fabrice

A fantastic wall with vivid colors..
An interesting composition..
Georges: a wild pastiche, or perhaps a 3-D collage. Worthy in that regard alone...
regards,
c

Salut Georges,
