Photographer’s Note
I make a small break in my photos of Provence to make you participate in a natural phenomenon but what I had never seen before: the swarming of a colony(summer camp) of bees.
On Friday morning, I watched the recreation to my school: the children call me and here is what I discover in a tree of the schoolyard : a swarm was hung on on a branch of lime tree, it was very impressive! At 3 pm in the afternoon, you will find what stayed of this passage in WS.
The swarming takes place always in May in France. A queen leaves her hive with a part of bees. This departure can have several causes: too many births, the queen is too old... The queen flies away followed about 45 000 bees (the flight is impressive, the sky becomes black), tired she settles on a branch, the other bees gather around her. Someone go on reconnaissance to find a place where to install the colony.
As soon as they found, all the colony leave again fot this « new house » ! There are only some stunned which did not include what took place and what will die in some days if they do not find the rest of the colony. look at the WS
During this time, after the departure of the queen in the former hive, a new queen will be born to assure the life of the hive. As soon as she will have been born, the nymphs of the other potential queens will be killed.
A beautiful and interesting day for all, children and teachers!

Salut Diane,

Unusual and fascinating nature shot, Diane. Very good eye to see and capture this scene. The natural colors and bright and the light/shadows are managed well. Nicely done.

Hello Diane,
I like your image very much. It is clear and sharp and the fact that you have your camera at work proves that the virus of TE has struck you hardly. I am obsessed with it too, but I do not take my camera to school, at least not yet. Though one picture of our town's cathedral was taken while walking my class from a theatre performance :-).
Best regards
Romana

salut diane

Hello Artemis,
this is a great natural discovery!
What a swarm of bees in working time! You captured very well this beautiful phenomenon and surely the WS help us to understand the progress of building the honeycomb.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards,
Athanasios.
