This is one of these moments that Nature gives us sometimes, for no reason, just like that, and we just enjoy, vaguely wondering what we have done to deserve it...

It was during a maritime festival (again!) in Britanny and the boats were out for a sail, with almost no wind. A shower came, heavy and warm, and as the rain was slowly going away in the background, the clouds opened up, a ray of sun came through, and this rainbow litteraly grew up from the sea. The sailboat came from the right at the same time. And there you go! A moment of grace.

The boat is "La Sainte Jeanne", replica of the boats used for transportation (of goods) in the Baie of Saint Brieuc (Brittany).

Technical note : I used NI to get rid of grain in the sky and the sea came out a little "soft", blurry. I know it is blurry. Actually, I like it like that, like a painting... (but maybe you don't :^).

Excellent compo, as I've said before, I don't go in for rainbows too much, but this is anexception. Panoramic aspect a good idea.

Effectivement, quel cadeau ! Merci de nous le faire partager ... c'est bien entendu grandiose !
Une composition très équilibrée, tout l'espace de ce format panoramique est superbement occupé, j'apprécie beaucoup la teinte claire des voiles qui se marrie avec celles de l'arc-en-ciel et ressortent parfaitement sur le fond presque monochrome. un grand bravo !

Double rainbow. One ending so close to the ship! They could sail there fast and collect the pot of gold! ;-)
I like the composition here, it is well balanced - rainbow on the left, a ship on the right, and the rainbow starting just from the photograph corner. The framing also adds to this picture.

c'est un très beau moment que tu as capturé ici. En plus, très bien équilibré avec l'arc-en-ciel à gauche et ce joli bâteau a droite. Bien fait.

Excellent, simple composition and placement of the boat.
Lovely, soft colour tones. I like the misty background. The rainbows are beautiful.

wouhh un doublé carrément ...tu n'y vas pas dans la dentelle quand tu réalises quelques chose, il était temps de les prendre ils disparaissent vite...en prime le voilier à l'extrème droite...belle composition en tons pastels aussi...bien vu et bon job ...amitiés BI

Well composed picture both vertical and horizontal:I like how the shore line disappears into the horizont on the left side; it makes the eye move from the right to the left side. The colours are great!

Well composed with the main elements in strong points like golden cuts and the rainbow coming exactly out of the corner. Good colormatch of sails to the orange of the rainbow. Often taking picture is a question of being there and then secondly knowing what to do when the moment comes....

La composition construite autour du contraste de couleurs entre les tons chauds et froid est superbe. tout en étant placé sur deux points forts le bateau et l'arc en ciel font écho et s'équilibrent. Très belle réalisation.

Ça va paraître peut drôle mais la première impression que cette photo me donne, c'est d'une attaque contre le petit bateau. Les arcs-en-ciel étant la trace laissé par le boulet dans l'air. Les deux premiers lancers ont manqué, attention au troisième.

Pour en revenir à l'image, je trouve que la photo est magnifique et très bien composée, le fait de ne pas centrer le bateau accentuer la présence des arcs-en-ciel. Beau travail Sophie!

wow what a beautiful shot sophie, you're right sometimes nature gives us moments for no reason ,just like that. but the pity is not too many people realise that the moment is there as it hardly lasts for a while. youve done a great job of composing this photograph.
as far as as the blurriness is concerned, youve got the boat in focus, so it doesnt matter.

Beau pano bien ordonné et d'un calme total ; neatimage gomme un peu trop parfois mais ici cela donne plus de douceur aux tonalités avec un très léger estompage. Le pano va très bien pour cette prise (PS j'ai aussi l'arc en ciel mais y'a des véhicules car j'étais à terre)

PS - arrivée à l'aberwrac'h vendredi apm ; j'ai zappé la soirée à Ploum')

Superbe composition, en tout point !
C'est vrai en voyant cette photo, que la photo de Newlyn etait en dessous de ton travail habituel !
Le cadre a du y faire pour beaucoup: c'est quand même plus agréable un arc en ciel qu'un port de pêche ...

I was just having a browse through some of your photos and this one caught my eye, I thought I would return the favour :)

I can't really add much as there are so many comments already! I think this is an excellent shot. You can see all the colours clearly from the rainbow, the orange sail on the boat is a good colour match, also the framing is a nice touch.

Elle va directement dans mes favorites celle-ci ; c'est pas tous les jours qu'on peu admirer une telle scène.
Vous avez su l'exploiter dans ces moindres détails.
La position penché du bateau et l'arrondi de l'arc me fait pensé un peu à un affrontement (si on peut l'imaginer ainsi) .
D'ici peu nous allons en week-end au Mont-Saint-Michel et faire un peu de la Cotes d'Armor ; j'espère qu'il fera beau temps.

Je viens de parcourir ta galerie, tu as de très belles photos. Félicitation.

Je crois que celle ci est ma préférée, j'adore ces moment éphémère que peut offrir la nature et la composition est vraiment parfaite.

Très belle photo typique de certaines lumieres que l'on obtiens assez souvent en Bretagne.
Bien que classique, j'aimes beaucoup ta composition.
