Photographer’s Note
I'm afraid that I don't really know anything about this windmill except that it stands not far outside the town of Pons just off of the road that goes to Cognac. It is located in a very well maintained garden as you can see and appears to be in working order as the sails were going round when we saw it.

Hello Stephen. Actually there would have to be its own category for the topic mills. They are always worth seeing and fascinating. You took the photo with ideal light. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Bonjour, cher Stephen,

It's probably just a stupid quirk of mine but I tend to treat objects like people and in a composition where the object has a definite front and back I prefer them to look into the frame and not out of it. It does sound stupid doesn't it? I can see why you composed it like this as the tree makes an excellent frame on the right. I just wish the windmill was further to the right so there was more space in front of it. Maybe there was something on the left to spoil the shot? Technically it is spot on with good light, colours and sharpness. I particularly like the way the blue sky fades to the horizon and the shadow of the sail on the mill itself.

Hello Stephen,
A very pretty mill in an environment of greenery which emphasizes it well. The light is however a little strong on the principal subject. Superb colors and a very good framing.

bonjour,

Hello Stephen.
This shot looks enormous for some reason, probably its being nearly 800 x 800 and that remarkable tree on the right. The clarity and sharpness of this one are superb, about the best of all your shots. The colour and light are very well rendered. Perhaps I would crop off some of the top part, though.

Andrew
