This exitus of cars from a museum was observed in the lobby of maybe (no: definitely) the greatest European museum of cars, the Schlumpf Collection in Mulhouse.
Anybody who has a car-thing going on should see this. More than 400 cars, large majority from the period before 1939, 150 Bugatti alone, tons of racecars, simply incredible. And all this covered by an interesting architecture (like in many French museums).
The museum has an incredible history: The Schlumpf brothers were textile industialists who spent all their money on buying old cars, but not any old cars, but just the finest and most famous ones. They secretly stored and restored them in one of the buildings of the factory, where nobody had access exept them and some mechanics who were not allowed to tell anyone what they were doing in there. The hole thing went on for years and years and was discovered only when the factory became insolvent and the workers stormed the building to see what in fact was going on there. What they found was the finest collection of cars ever seen anywhere, in a perfect showroom. The factory was closed down in 1977, the collection was nationalised and opened as a museum in 1982.
The value of the cars collected there exceeds many times the value the factory ever had. In the end it wasn´t such a bad investment... |

Hi Johannes,
ua,, this is so cool. I didn't know that such museum exists. This is excellent shot. I like how this flying cars create great pattern and with the structure of fasade and red wall make great graphical impact on observer. Excellent choice of POV which includes all mentioned previously and give such a great result. Thank for the most interesting note to!
Kind regards,
Jeri
