Hello John -

A very nice travel image. The composition is well balanced and pleasing and it was a good decision to minimize the featureless sky. I am not sure why you chose a DOF of f/9 as the church on the horizon appears to be rather soft. This area of France that you visited looks to be very picturesque and worth of a visit.

You're always careful to include some foreground in your compositions. The triangle of grass and the boats add to the composition as well as providing depth. You had good light and I like the hints of reflections in the rippled water.

Great shot John! Although I was in the Loire last year I never visited Blois, so this is quite interesting to me. The bridge looks very similar to other bridges on the Loire at other cities, as does that white stone which is very characteristic of the region. I like the way you positioned the boats in the foreground and the bridge in the background, with one boat on the river to link them. Excellent work!

A nice riverside view with a good succession of elements, I'd have preferred to see the middle boat not overlapping with the bridge but it seems that from this position no alternative angle would let this happen.

Olá John, wonderful image of the Loire at Blois. If it wasn't so sharp and clear, I could think that this is an old photo, since I don't see any sign of modern times. Strange format, but the composition is really good. My eyes jump from these boats to the ones on the water and then to the church and along the bridge, to the city at right.

Hi John - I know this spot very well (and parking here is a LOT easier than across the bridge), the boats have a rustic, almost Asian appearance to them, contrasting with the distinct european architecture.

This "au fil de l'eau" serie about river Loire region is realy a good moment, castle and landscape are fine in the last three compositions I came.
here the boat (gabare) is well detailed, and the back ground is rich under a fine light.
I have worked there during 5 years of my life and find this photo is well representing a bridge I have crossed quite every day.
Curiously I never walked at the place you are :-)) my way was the other side turning right after this bridge and going south.
