Photographer’s Note
Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel taken from the Louvre.I was really impressed with this sky.
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel (from architects Percier and Fontaine) was built between 1806 and 1808 by Napoleon I, following the model of the Arc of Constantine in Rome. The two arches built by Napoleon - Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel and the Arc de Triomphe at Etoile, were to commemorate his victories, and the grand army who had won them. The bronze horses on top of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel were taken from Saint-Marc of Venice. These were later returned after WWII.
The monument is richly decorated in rose marble on the columns and the front paneling. It is part of the so-called Grand Axis of Paris — or Voie Triomphale — which consists of the Grande Arche de la Défense to the west, the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile at place du Général Charles de Gaulle, the boulevard Champs-Elysées, the Obélisque de Luxor at the Place de la Concorde, the Tuileries Gardens, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, and the Palais du Louvre (Louvre Museum) culminating at the eastern end.
The Arc du Carrousel is composed of three arches: a big one and two little ones. While the principal structure is 63 feet high, 75 feet wide, and 24 feet deep, the ceiling of the big arch is 21 feet high and 9 feet wide, and the two small arches are each 14 feet, 16 inches high and 9 feet wide. The arc is surmounted by a group of men on horses underneath which one finds the names of the battles and treaties of Napoleon.
Hope you like it!

Very dramatic and well composed, Marco. I love the textures and tones of the buildings and sky. Dark and brooding, even with the shafts of light.

Great pp work & symbolism. Many people look on Napolean as a dark stain in French history. But from the darkness came light, & France as it is today.

A wonderful shot like if God coming on earth. Your composition is amazing with the Arc de Triomphe and the eiffel tower in background. The sad tone of your picture gives a special atmosphere.
Nice work Marco.

Cela ressemble à une photo noir et blanc colorée à la main comme dans les années 50.
Intéressante la lumière incidente du soleil à côté du caroussel des Tuileries.
That resembles a photo black and white coloured by hand as in the Fifties. Interesting the incidental light of the sun beside the caroussel of Tuileries.

WOW wonderful light capture here, excellent colour and contrast in photo.
I do have on criticism to the picture, the people in front, even make the photo crop, so that the people is in full length, ore use PSP crop out the people.
I do think half people only is good in 'portrait, but the over all look of the picture is GREAT.

Beautiful! I like the rays of light coming down from the sky. Looks like you captured this shot at the right moment and were rewarded with this fantastic result.
Too bad about the guy in blue. Luckily though, all the other people near him are in black so are not distracting! Good job!

Impressionante voce conseguir captar as incidencias saindo das nuvens, eu ainda não consegui esse efeito, com as construções em primeiro plano ficou perfeito. Saudações Marco.

Ohlala! I ike the light of course. It is the most important element on this photo, but I like the gret Pov that you choose so we can see two important places in the Paris. Nice composition, as always.

The sunshines coming out of the clouds gives something strange and mysterious. It's very well done. Some colors seems not natural but it's pleasant. Nice shot again Marco !

Wow, the light! You really were at the right place at the right time, great image, your postprocessing is very good.
The only thing that I am not too sure about in this picture is the person at the front, the person isn't the issue for me, but the colour of his coat just doesn't look right in this image, perhaps consider changing it to some dark colour or perhaps colour matching the columns.

Browsing through your gallery Marco, I saw your style. Architectural with a flair of natural dramaticism. Dark ominous sky with "biblical" lights if you may. The kind of photography that is not suitable for travel guide but book, on works of art.

Um belo monumento e uma foto a condizer, Marco, embora para meu gosto com excesso de pós-produção. Mas o enquadramento está óptimo bem como o céu, realmente espectacular. Belo trabalho!
