Photographer's Note

This photo is part of my theme: The 24, dedicated to the 24 hours of Le Mans. In this series I want to show my love for this event by means of photos and notes. This is part III: The Crowd.

We're Le Mans fans, we're diehard
Do you think litter, mud and heavy rain can scare the Le Mans race fans away? Think again! We love racing and we shall watch the cars go by even if its our last 24 hours on planet Earth!

United we celebrate
This crowd is the best and they come from all over the world to celebrate endurance racing. The young, the old, men and woman, rich and pour, all colors and religions. This weekend we all come together to do Le Mans. This was my 5th time and I must admit it gets more crowded by the year and it's not easy to get your spot but you'll just have to wait, there is space for everybody.

24 hour friends
Walking around the circuit, everybody has a big smile on his/ her face! Positive atmosphere thruout. There is alcohol; lots of it, but its good alcohol. Nobody is out for trouble and everybody makes it Suntory time. In this international crowd you will get very cool inspiring conversations and you will leave the circuit a lot wiser. First you talk about the normal things: the cars, the teams, the pilots and the event. Than you exchange some of your personal BS and than... when it gets late, dark and a little colder... you'll get more and more tired. 1:00am... 2:00am... the conversation slows down but then you discuss the deeper meaning of life. Hahahaa, yes you go in depth with your new 24 hour friends and you will exchange what its all about while the cars go by. Whats better than that?

Race home!
Another thing is when the race is over and every goes back home. The autostrada (what is the French word? :) from Le Mans to Paris becomes a Gumball redux. The first 15 gas stations are packed and all the Brits race home in their TVRs, Astons and Jags. I've never ever seen a crash along the way. Never. The Le Mans race fans know how to drive their car.
