[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
THE PLACE WHERE I LIVE VII: As I said in my previous posting, I live on the border between the communes of Plougastel and Loperhet, and this chapel stands about 500m from my house on top of a hill overlooking the sea, so it's a favourite destination for a morning jog, when I feel like taking a little fresh air.
The first building, according to the legend was built by the lord of Kergoat in Loperhet. As he was prisoner of the Turks during the crusades, he promised God that he would build a chapel in honour of St Claude, if he was freed. As it happened, one morning, he found himself on the coast near his manor in a stone boat. ( a current thing in our breton legends. levity must have been different in those days!! )
So, straight away, he set about fulfilling his promise, which was to build a chapel on the highest part of his land. However, whatever was built during the day, was mysteriously destroyed during the night. Puzzled, the Lord of Kergoat tied his oxen to a cart full of building stones, and decided to let them go where they wished.
The oxen crossed the river at low tide , went up the hill, and stopped where the chapel is now. The Lord then realised that his highest piece of land was actually in Plougastel, when he had meant to build the chapel in Loperhet.
However, he had to submit to God's wish... To this day, the people of both parishes are closely linked to this chapel and take part together in the organisation of the yearly festival in early September. So there must be some truth in the legend I suppose...
The present building dates back to the XVIth century and is of Breton Renaissance style. The chevet with several gables, on the right of the picture was conceived by the artisans " Beaumanoir" from Morlaix, which were very successful around that period.

Salut Marie Louise,

This series of yours is much interesting. It's a pleasure seeing people presenting the places that make part of their lives and that they know so well, for the personal touch that perspires on the photos and in your case there is the added interest of the places themselves, for their beauty and history.

The note adds much interest to it as those Medieval legends always defy our imagination.

I like the simple but effective pov and the clarity. Perhaps it is slightly over exp - maybe you are like me and normally have the display adjusted too dark.

I like also the WS's and they are important for making a clearer idea of the place.

was it really November? The green is misleading the eye and I think more of spring. I like this one with the shadows on the chapel and the framing by the two trees. Wonderful colours and light.

Une belle et complète petite série sur cette superbe chapelle absolument à découvrir. Joli cadrage ici qui met bien en valeur une partie de l'édifice dans son élément végétal. Hola Marie Louise,
has conseguido una buena foto a pesar de la fuerte luz del sol, que incidía directamente sobre las paredes de la iglesia por tu lado izquierdo, y que te regaló unas largas sombras, muy elegantes, y también un poco de sobreexposición. Pero la composición es muy agradable a la vista, y combina muy bien la piedra de la iglesia con la naturaleza de su entorno.

J'aime bien cette image où l'on peut découvrir la beaté architecturale de cette chapelle pittoresque. La lumière était assez dure mais le piège de la surexposition est des plus habilement évité. Ca ne devai pas être si facile avec le blanc dominant la teinte des murs...

Au niveau de la composition, il aurait peut-être été habile d'intégrer completement les arbres à droite et à gauche, ou bien de carrément les éviter. Mais ce n'est qu'un détail, et aussi une question d'appréciation personnelle.

Très joli endroit. Le nom m'a fait croire qu'il s'agissait de la ville de saint claude dans le jure (proche donc de la ou j'habite). Mais je ne suis pas déçu pour autant. Le cadrage est sympa mais l'ensemble est à peine surexposé. Pas facile à gérer les zones de forts contrastes avec une lumière puissante.

Très belle commposition dans laquelle l'église est bien mise en valeur et bien détaillée. J'y trouve tout de même un peu de surexposition (ciel, herbe et tronc d'arbre (?) à droite).
Les WS n'auraient-ils pas pu faire l'objet de publications ?

Marie-Louise, c'est une belle architecture comme on en peut en voir en Bretagne. La belle couleur de l'ardoise est un plus dans le cliché.

non c'è che dire, sei fortunata ad abitare in un posto cosi bello verde e ricco di bei posti.
Questa chiesa straordinaria, anomala nel senso che non sembra avere una pianta classica; infatti non riesco a capire in quale parte siamo.
