Sunday afternoon in Collioure Photo

Photographer’s Note

I arrived in this little idyllic town, Collioure in South of France late yesterday after going some 1750km with car from the ferry terminal in Kiel Germany.

I have the pleasure to visit Collioure, in all seasons and changing weather and the big waves to day was a new detail to add to the many facettes of the small town..

I see a lot of drama in this shot Jack. The waves crashing against the seawall, seem to be putting this little town in peril, which in my eye, attest to the strengh and courage of those who built here. Very nice.

une photo prise dans des conditions climatiques défavorables, mais nous savons qu'il en faut bien d'autres pour t'empêcher de faire de bonnes photos.
Des lumières difficiles pourtant bien capturées, une belle impression de puissance dans le fracas de ces vagues.

Hi Jack,
I'd heard on the radio that the south of France was experiencing some bad weather this week-end, but thanks to your picture I can now actually see it, almost live. I like the dramatic atmosphere with the sea and clouds that seem to be competing to be as dark as possible. That big splash of waves on the left adds a lot of intensity and one can almost feel the force of te wind while looking at this shot.

So you are fond of driving all day long? So am I. I love highways especially if in the end of the road there is such precious place. I visited Collioure 4 times, but each time in the summer. I see that in the winter this village is also beautiful.

Well that's at all like my memory of this town, the Med certainly looks extremely uninviting, ad the gloomy sky enhances the mood, another nice view of the place out of season.

Bonsoir, mon ami Jack,
Pouvoir visiter Colioure au mois de février, sans la présence de trop de touristes, un rêve.
De plus, le temps est parfait pour saisir cette magnifique prise de vue avec la mer en colère.
La photo publiée en Sépia ne manque pas de charme formant un petit clin d'oeil au passé.

Good rugged look and atmosphere to this photo, Jack. Nice contrasts even in the gloomy atmosphere, and well timed to have the gushing wave and the bird in flight opening the reading of the scene at the left.

Excellent view. The atmosphere you got with this dark sly is great. Furthermore, the wave breaking is a perfect complement for this sky.

Very nice rough sea with a dramatic terrible sky.
Also a good composition.
I suggest you to try to follow the coast from here to Spanish border.

It's a long way from Norway to Collioure... Not very pleasant to come here with such a weather ! I like this shot despine the heavy sky but what happen on the top of the castle ?

A good decisive moment to catch the surf breaking at left. The diffused light allows maximum shadow detail. The lone bird is a bonus. Tfs!
