Photographer’s Note
Lille is this years European Cultural Capital. One of the attractions is the Rambla de Shanghai. From March 6 to July 15 the Rue Fadherbe in the centre of Lille is converted to a Chinese boulevard with two gigantic video screens, copies of the famous neons of Nankin (with names and logos of Chinese companies: some of them are restaurants others foodstuff companies), electric trees and a Tea House at the Place du Theatre.
Displayed here is one of the 2 sets of Nankin neon signs.
PS-E2 tech: skewed, cropped, levels adjusted, saturation (master) boosted, sharpened (the whole and selected parts with the brush), fill flashed parts of the picture, sky despeckled and blurred and saved for the web

The neon signs are lovely colourful patterns here and form a nice composition, Bert! The darker buildings and sky put more impact and outline them in a fine way. Very well done!

Excellent and original, this opposition between the old building's wall of an european city and the colorful asian signs.
Well seen and done, Bert !

Kind of a double pattern you spotted and captured here, Bert - the colorful neon signs, and in between the windows with the small balconies in front of them. Quite an odd find at first sight, but after having seen some of last year's installations in my birthtown of Graz, Austria (they were cultural capital 2003) I am not too surprised.
Good shot, I like the luminosity of the signs.
Added to Roland's "neon at night" theme.

Hi Bert, beautiful and colorful picture. The composition is nice and strong with the old building behind it. It makes a good contrast with the Neon art. Very nice picture indeed!

Great colors, again. The neon is so vividly captured. It's great. Very energetic and alive. The details are great, too, throughout. Maybe there was a little too much fill flash on the right side since the top seems just a bit washed out. But it doesn't take me away from seeing how great you captured the neon. Very nice job.

Oh lovely and colourful image you spotted and captured here Bert. You chosen a very fine time of the day, with a rest of light to give us the buildings.
Very fine work - I like to watch this :-)

I liked all your urban-architectural shots ( for I'man architect myself)& admired the angle, the frame & the subjects.
but this one, I like the visible contrast (dark/ light) & the hidden contrast ( china/frane , east/west)
nice capture!
