Photographer’s Note
As it was such a beautiful day, this afternoon I headed off to the Château de Landskron, a local ruin which I often visit when I have a spare couple hours. The chateau is footsteps away from the Swiss border and it’s a short but steep climb to reach it. Today the castle is just a ruin but from its tower, which is still intact, one can enjoy open views across the landscape of Alsace.
The chateau was first built sometime before 1297 and was widely extended in 1516 before suffering damage in the great earthquake of 1356 which shook the whole area. Various ownership disputes ensued over the years and the castle was again destroyed in 1813 by the Austrians and Bavarians fighting against Napoleon Bonaparte. Since 1984 the castle has belonged to the Pro-Landskron association who have invested in substantial renovations, some of which are visible in this shot.

Hi Susanna. A nice ultra-wide-angle view of the old castle, allowing you to fit everything you would want to have into a single photo frame. The angle of sunlight worked out rather favorably to have the big variety of textural details in the photo. Good work.

Hi Susanna, once upon a time when I lived in Switzerland I had my home very nearby this ruin. Still today when I visit friends in the area I always take some time to go to this place. The overview is indeed marvelous. You got an excellent wide-angle shot here portraying the 2nd entrance and the tower. Good that you got some one up there on the tower. It gives a good reference. Do you have also pictures of the other ruins nearby (Aesch, Dornach, Arlesheim, Muenchenstein)?

Hi Susanna,
Your lower POV is creating impressive scene while adding superb view of door and ruin city walls. I like splendid stone textures on door, wall and road a lot too. Green plants at bank and beautiful cloudy sky are very nice with visitor at top who adds the life needed for your photo and helping to us imagine the scale of your view. Congratulations.
Best Regards,
Ertugrul

I like your point of view giving you the chance to get a substantial part of the ruin on the photo. The light works very nicely as well.

Hi Susanna
The composition is well seen in this shot as the path crosses it in a nice curve. Both the gateway and the tower on the left are well placed. The image is nice and sharp too. Nice work.
Best wishes

Hi Susanna,
Well composed with fine lighting and shadow effects. I like this low angle pOV, with the fine view through the gap in the wall. The winter light is bathing this ruin in splendour, and I envy you the ability to visit such historical places within easy driving time. First rate, Susanna. Very pleasing...later.

Bonjour Suzanna.
Bravo pour l'utilisation d'un grand angle pour cette photo .
J'aime bien l'entrée du chateau avec cette route pavée tout en courbe..
