Amour et Psyché
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The work represents Cupid in the instant before kissing Psyche.
The statue is inspired by Apuleius’ tale of Cupid and Psyche: The goddess Venus was jealous of the beauty of a mortal woman named Psyche, so Venus asked her son Cupid to use his golden arrow to cause Psyche to fall in love with the ugliest man on earth.
Cupid agreed but fell in love with Psyche himself.
The subject here is used to encapsulate the power of love, above all the intensity of the desire is displayed: from the choice to stop the "time" at the moment before the kiss happens thus intensifying the desire.
I Love this statue because?
I believe that this statue is truly wonderful.
The bodies seem real, the detail is breathtaking particularly the hair and the feet of Psyche which are perfect, as if born that way.
The look of Love between the two is so true, as is the gown of Psyche.
It really is a very beautiful work.
It stirs emotions in me when I see it.
I Hope that i was able to transmit this emotion. |
