Photographer’s Note

This is another unusual crib in Port-Launay Finistère, although in a different way from the one at Lampaul-Guimiliau ( my previous posting ). Here the figures, not the buildings are the main features. They date back to the 2nd quarter of the 19th century and are all dressed in the local breton costumes that used to be worn by the ordinary people.
Only 1 of the figures is dressed in a costume of the nobility. It's standing in red at the back near the bottom of the cliff ( + see 1 of the WS ).
( The lighting is not very good, as I had to use a flash and then the characters at the front are overexposed, and the ones at the back underexposed; but they are after all coming from the dark night into the light to see the new-born baby... )
Port-Launay is a quiet little town near Chateaulin, on the banks of the river Aulne, which is a very peaceful and picturesque river itself.
