Photographer’s Note
Getting into the feeling of Christmas, I decided to post one or two pictures of cribs which we visited last year. Once Xmas is here, I probably won't have much time for TE.
This is an extraordinary piece of work in the church of Lampaul-Guimiliau, Finistère. A local man, Jean Pouliquen has been working at it for 12 years: He has made miniature reproductions of the buildings in the village itself. The church (not seen here), the chapel, some typical houses, the wash-house... He decided to place the crib inside a house in ruins.
Lampaul-Guimiliau is one of those typical villages in Brittany, which prides itself with a very rich religious architechtural ensemble: Church, chapel, triumphal door, calvary, ossuary, most of them dating back to the 16th 17th centuries.
I am adding some photos as WS: 1 with the inside of the crib itself, 1 with the author in his miniature village and 1 that shows the inside of the church, very rich un polychrome settings.
Visitors are welcome, visits are free, but donations will go to help development actions in Perù.

dommage que dans le WS on ne voit pas le village meme grandeur nature. Tout de meme interresant et bon cadrage. Merci pour la note.

Bonjour Marie Louise,
I have never seen such a large crib, it is amazing. And as it is built like your local houses of Britanny I am impressed too. Thanks for this christmas present to us.
Cheers, Ulf

Hi ML,
at the first sight, I really thought it would be a "real" village. A true piece of artwork ... I admire these people who make cribs because their work is so detailed and you have to be very handy ...
We have also much cribs in Austria which are made in handwork, and which look like traditional villages of the different areas.
In the South of Upper Austria, there is a town called Ebensee, and there people could visit the beautiful cribs in almost every private (!!)house. This activity is called "Kripperlroas" (dialect for "cribs tour") ... you would like it!

Bonjour, Marie Louise.
Qui a dit que les creches etaient la specialite exclusive des regions provencales??? Le style des batisses bretonnes est exceptionnellement bien rendu ici et je connais des arlesiens qui pourraient etre jaloux!
Merci du partage.
