Photographer’s Note
Stand By Me
One of the most beautifull movie ever made.
These are NOT my kids. They are railway kids, in Normandy.
It is a century old railway working only on weekends, it takes you from Etretat to Les Loges (8 kilometres), across the country, or "vallon". A vallon is what preceeds geologycally a drop-out of cliffs into the ocean.
I was surprised to see these small boys handling these mechanical things. They were about five, all blonds and kindda dirty. Actually, the boy in the front looks a lot like the late River Phoenix, when he played in this movie at age 10. Paix à son Ame.

Hello Langaloo Winston
I was about to comment this as a good example of how to NOT make kids stand still. But I'll say so anyway, telling kids to stand still and smile is like pushing the fast-forward button on you VCR or DVD player... you understand?
The composition for this photo looks good, what really pulls the attention is the railway leading off into the distance.
Colours look good, but I feel the sky is ruining the general impression of the photo.

Le côté rugueux de l'endroit et son contraste avec les enfants me plait bien, c'est un bon choix de sujet.
La photo est bonne, bien équilibrée avec le wagon en dond et la concergence très loin sur la voie ferrée, il y a du mouvement

Hi Langaloo,
Great candid shot of boys being boys. The little one looks like a tough guy. Yes the older one resembles River.
Regards, Tom
