Photographer’s Note
This is the Musee du Moulin (Mill Museum) and l'Hotel de la Plage (Beach Hotel), which form a retro-style whole, at Wissant.
The mill at Wissant nestles in the valley of a small stream that cuts through the hills between Calais and Boulogne. It's machinery dates back to the 1920's and includes all the equipment that a small town roller-mill would have for milling local grain, and sieving out the white flour for local bakers.
The museum presents an exhibition on Wissant history, traditional fishing and the inside of the old mill, with it's machinery (see Workshop for a shot of the mill wheel).
I can't help but think that this place would look much better in the sunshine, but today I had to make do with heavy rain, flat light and a bleached out sky. Not condusive for good picture taking, but I only had one day there, so had to make the best of it!
Thanks for looking.
