Photographer’s Note
Le Pont du Gard is a roman aquaduct thought to date from around 19BC and is included in UNESCO's list of world heritage sites.
This photo was taken in the late afternoon with the sun behind me. It was a windy day and there was a lot of cloud low in the sky which meant that the light conditions were changing constantly. I took numerous shots many of which looked incredibly flat as the sun vanished behind a cloud. This photo was taken during a period when the full power of the late afternoon sun shone through and bathed the aquaduct in a beautiful golden light.

Excellent composition and the way you have timed it to get the sun on the aquaduct and the rest in shade is brilliant. With that in mind the exposure to keep detail in the shadows without burning out the aquaduct is spot on

It is sad that work of restauration inside the photo but the light and the monument are perfectly shown

Incredible low light caught here, Andrew, enough for a great shot, but you also have such a perfect reflection! Great contrast of light here, in fact, everything except the bridge looks so dark that I initially thought it was a twilight shot. Very nice work!

Andrew, this is a great shot. I love seeing UNESCO sites here on TE. The lighting is great, I'm glad the sun came out for a while. The reflection looks wonderful. Good job with the composition.

Hi Andrew,
really great shot !
very well composed with the reflections in the water and you had the best light you could have. I like very much the contrast between the dark zone and the enlightened zone. You were right when you decided to wait for the good light !
Well done

hi andrew !
another excellent shot !
the wide angle is perfect for it and makes the bridge much more impressive than it actually is.
the colours are very good and the relection is great
you were just unlucky for the works ..

Hi Andrew
This one is a classic. I think that you should feel a lot of satisfaction after putting so much efforts to get this image. The colour of the structure makes perfect contrast with the blue sky, but what is more important, the natural light of the day makes any other irrelevant elements of the picture dark, bringing up the aqueduct. Congratulations.
Cheers
