Photographer’s Note
left behind on a ski slope after closure.
Any suggestions on the green spot in the right corner? (remove or not and if yes, how?)

I like it just like it is... But maybe the experts will have a good advice for that "spot".
Don't you think it has a little bit a shape like a ghost? Maybe it was one! ;-)

The taken of the sun is wonderful here. I think it would be a better shot by cropping the reclection on the right. Very nice framing.
La capture du soleil est superbe. Je pense que l'effet serait encore meilleur en supprimant le reflet sur la droite. Excellent cadrage.

Not easy to catch the sun like this and still have a well balanced shot. Green spot... I would simply crop that part just at the limit, which leaves enough of the mountains in the back. Très belle image!

Whew! I've never seen such flaring!
Your CCD must really not have liked looking into the sun.
I think that you can turn this in to a striking picture with (a lot of) work.
The quick and easy fix would be to crop off the green spot, but in doing so you'd loose width which works in this shot to balance the weight of the sun.
I'd say clone. And clone out all the other places where the lens produced abnormalities.
There's a light spot left of the green area, a strip of color between the sun and green spot, a couple of aperture shaped flares around the sun and a huge one around the sun (two facets show).
The sky work will be fairly easy. The mountains, well, set aside an evening.

I agree with Bob that cropping would not be good for the composition. If you want to get rid of the main flare (there's actually a blue area to the left of the green area on the ridge as well), I'd select it and work on it separately. Try some (or all) of the following -
1. Select the hexagonal area of flare (you'll probably need to do this by hand, but since there's no other green area in the shot you could try 'select areas of similar color')
2. Add an adjustment layer to reduce the green level in that selected area. The trick is that you have to be careful not to lose the white balance (taking green out of a white area will mean it's not quite white any more ;( )
3. Once that's done, finish off with cloning from nearby areas
4. If it still stands out, try putting it more in shadow...
4. is optional, and means that you lose the integrity of the original shot. This is up to you.
Anyway, nice shot. In future try a lens hood if possible.
