History " Fondation Méquignon "
Based by the priest of Elancourt, the orphanage is recognized by public utility by imperial order on April 7th, 1866.
In 1860, the Abbot Méquignon, took in more than 60 orphans. In front of the unlimitedness of the task, he(it) obtains the help(assistant) of 3 sisters of St Vincent de Paul. 5 years later, 125 children joined, he(it) then makes build the Orphanage.
The Chapel and the wings of the Orphanage are built between 1863 and 1869 and can welcome up to 300 children. In the small Village of Elancourt, the boarders of the orphanage represent up to a third(third party) of the population. Since December, 1967, the Méquignon foundation replaced the orphanage which becomes house for children with social character.
