Photographer’s Note

The church of Chavot was built in 1108. It was burnt in 1567 by the Huguenots of Condé (protestants). Thanks to Massire Hannequin, who was a preacher of Epernay, the reconstruction of the church was done in 1579. The church suffered from new destructions in 1789 (under the French Revolution). The roof had to be built again. During 1849, new bells are installed.

I wanted to capture this beautiful church which is on the top a hill so I took this shot. It is in the middle of the vineyards and near the village of Chavot.
I started by cropping it. I tuned the levels by slightly adjusting the white point. I added +20 to the saturation and specifically +20 to the saturation of the yellow in order to higlight the vineyard. I added +10 to the contrast. The noise in the sky was removed (duplicate the layer, blur it with gaussian blur of radius 3 pix, add a layer mask, reveal only the sky). I added the frame. After resizing the picture to 800x600, I finally sharpened it.
