Photographer’s Note
Went for a walk with the family on one of the plateau in the Alps, and came across some of these dried, dead flower heads. The landscape around here (Plateau St Barnabe near the Col de Vence) is pretty barren to say the least. They looked like the heads of large thistle flowers, but the size of a sunflower. I tried editing the photo and sharpening, but after comparing, the subdued colours suited the melancholy plant the best.
