Photographer’s Note

Each summer a part of the Mediterranean vegetation of Corsica is destroyed by the fires. Unfortunately it was the case during the last summer in 2004. The day before this shot a big fire devastated the nice valley of Pietracorbara on the north east coast of Corsica, and the stormy winds impeded the “Canadairs” (the water bombers) to take off. The next day the wind weakened slightly and I took this shot of the bombers filling their tankers in the sea. In the background you can see the Italian island of Capraia.
