Photographer’s Note

True place of walk and relaxation, this pond was dug in 1682, and belongs with its 55 hectares, with the gigantic network hydrographic of the Ponds and Rigoles, imagined and carried out by Vauban, between 1675 and 1685, to supply out of water the basins of the castle of Versailles. Connected to the pond of Saint-Hubert and that of Saint-Quentin, it made it possible to cleanse the area and to increase cultivable surfaces.
