Photographer's Note

The Troumouse cirque is at the place of an old glacier which has melted and dug this area. It has a diameter of 4 km and is located roughly at 2100 m high, surrounded by the mountains at 3000 m high. The highest point is la Munia (at the center above the snow plates) reaching 3133m.
For our trek, we started from Héas 1521m high to the north for 1h 1/4 to reach the Aguila fountain, then looked for our way to reach the Lieusaube tower (1 h more) in the iris fields -so late this year- where this picture has been taken. The next aim was the cabane des Aires - 1 hour walk more- where we had our picnic. You can spot it right in the middle of the image with its silvery roof. Then, we wandered between the Aires lakes, reached the Troumouse Virgin at the altitude 2134m, and trekked down to the auberge du Maillet 1800m high - see my previous posts. Total walk time: 6 to 7 hours. Hitch hiking to get back to our car.
