A magnolia tree and a bed of crocuses bloom in the hesitant spring sunshine in the garden of the Tour Saint-Jacques in Paris.
Tour Saint-Jacques is a monument located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, France, on Rue de Rivoli at Rue Nicolas Flamel. The 52-metre (171 foot) Flamboyant Gothic tower is all that remains of the former 16th-century Church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie ("Saint James of the butchery"), which was levelled shortly after the French Revolution.
The tower's rich decoration reflects the wealth of its patrons, the wholesale butchers of the nearby Les Halles market. The masons in charge were Jean de Felin, Julien Ménart and Jean de Revier. It was built in 1509 to 1523, during the reign of King Francis I. With a dedication to Saint James the Great, the ancient church and its landmark tower welcomed pilgrims setting out on the road to Tours and the way of St James, which led to the major pilgrimage destination of Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
The church, with the exception of the tower, was demolished in 1793; preservation of the tower was a condition of the contract by which the church was bought for the value of its building materials. In 1824 it was being used as a shot tower to make small shot. It was repurchased by the City of Paris in 1836 and declared a Monument Historique in 1862. A statue of the saint was installed on the top of the tower during the 19th century.
It has been restored on several occasions, most recently in 2008/09.

bella inquadratura primaverile per questa antica torre.
Da qui iniziavano i viaggi verso Santiago de Compostela.

a lyrical title to this one and who could resist this famous capital in the season of renewal. Lovely sweeping composition and magnificent architectural elegance. Superb!
Have a good week - B.

The mild winter has been good for magnolia trees. I noticed one in full bloom, yesterday, on the outskirts of Manchester.
The tree and the crocuses make a lovely spring start to your pathway, which leads ultimately to the towering, focal remnants of the old church. A very nicely composed photograph of a more unusual view of Paris.
Have a great week,

Beautiful view of the impressive monument towering over these barren branches which are on the verge of coming back to life. As I was scrolling down I was searching for signs of spring and then I see the lush green lawn with lovely violet flowers. It is priceless and adds so much to the composition. Well taken and thanks for sharing.

Isn't the title of a song, "I love Paris in the Springtime" Stephen? The romantic city is just the place for couples to wander and here with the crocuses blooming and the magnolia trees putting forth their gorgeous blooms the city comes alive with new life. An attractive shot with a peaceful ambience despite being in the bustle of a popular city.

This structure is so dramatic. And not in the sense of a spy movie, but in a very theatrical way! The way those elements fly off the top like that make it seem this building is crying for attention, and gaining it because its such an imposing looking place. I like your choice of POV too, the flowers bring color, and the sweeping path brings depth. If I look at the bottom of the scene compared to the top with the structure against the sky, its like two different pics combined! Nicely done, thanks as always for sharing.

Elle est magnifique la Tour Saint-Jacques au milieu de son parc. La verdure rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bien fait.

Very fine scene from the city with this shy spring start. Enjoyable atmosphere, well taken.

j'aime le POV, les arbres dénudées de leurs feuilles laisse une belle vue sur la tour, qui est très belle et d'une belle hauteur, une jolie découverte pour moi qui connait mal Paris
