Colmar canal view of the typical wooden houses along, opposite view over the bridge across "La petit Venise" neighbourhood, on the Rue Turrene.
Attracted by the converging diagonals of the reflections, diminishing on the far curve.
Not sure if all the houses are strait upwards, maybe some are tilted, as built on the water's edge.
+0.3 exp. bias, due to grey sky, 16:9 aspect ratio.

Tout le charme de Colmar, qui donne un petit air de Venise, il ne manque plus que les Gondoles :-), bonne profondeur entre les reflets de chaque côté, très jolie

I like very much this deep view into the famous, picturesque canal. There seems to be a slight tilt on the left side while the right bank is perfectly straight. It's great how you used the reflection of the sky for a long and dynamic foreground, its brightness has been well moderated and it's pleasant. There's excellent sharpness which makes the details very attractive and enhances the graphical aspect of this much loved view. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

I just think it would be really relaxing, living on the banks of a canal. Just imagine, dining al fresco and listening to the gentle lapping of the water.
Did you have a chance to dine in this waterside café?
The canal makes an interesting, reflective lead from the f/g to a strong vanishing point, with plenty of time to enjoy the characteristic, half-timbered houses along the way.
There definitely seems to be a lean on the l/h side. I wonder if it was natural of just lens distortion.
Have a good night,

The length of the canal is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the houses. The cloudy or grey sky does not hurt the output of the colours. Have a nice day.

I like those architectures, very distinctive and beautiful. And I wouldn't mind living by this canal, it looks like a nice place. Good lighting and nice details. I think the converging lines is due to focal length of 5mm, which is very wide angle. Well done, tfs.

No matter how many times I've seen this corner of town, and sadly only in pictures...I love it each time! Despite the grey skies, the luster and charm of this place still shines through. The overcast sky actually works to your advantage though when it comes to the reflection, essentially creating a big "x" within this composition. You see, there's still a "bright" side. :) I think this is just one of those instances where no one will ever be able to get every element to line up properly, but you've done a fine job to balance it out as best as possible...looks good to me, I'll take it! Enjoy the new day. Take good care.

The reflections and the perspective are marvelous. Is there any traffic in this canal?

You're capturing well this place by a good angle, a good perspective and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the calm canal and the wooden buildings with the tasteful design along the canal. Here looks like surrounding to the quiet environment such as the greenery. When it says in the East, it is the scenery of Suzhou in China. And, the terrace of restaurant draws out a good atmosphere as well as the reflection projected to the canal.

This is a nicely exposed shot. Lovely viewpoint and technically excellent photo work. You have found a very strong subject with excellent positioning of the water channel and the nice houses in excellent light. The beautiful reflections add nice toning to the scene.
The mall terrace restaurant must be an excellent place to relax.
Very well done.

Bonsoir, cher Ike,
Le charme de certaines villes opère d'une bien jolie façon.
Ces vieilles maisons aux pans de bois aiment à se mirer dans les eaux calmes.
Une bien jolie réalisation.

I admired those who live along the Canal. It is such a tranquil place with the reflection and the charming setting. These house are a good fit to the setting adding more historical charm to the landscape. Good photo with good composition and natural colors.

An wonderful scene and an excellent POV. As in many of your photos of last summer's trip the weather was dull but you have compensated that with a really fine composition, excellent sharpness and detail. TFS and have a nice weekend!

the Alsatian architecture always has plenty of charm and never fails to have an appeal on me. This is very nice spot and well captured from good POV. The colors are still lovely despite lack of the sun. The composition has been nicely balanced and the river leads an eye towards pretty buildings.

I like how the inverted v shape meets to v formed by the houses and sky to form an x pattern. Good reflections of the blue skylight with impeccable sharpness and excellent framing. The floating rafthouse restaurant reminds me of Kanchanaburi in Thailand and would be an equally nice spot to dine. Tfs!
delpeoples (52529) 2014-03-11 1:59
Hi dear Ike
I really like the vertical frame and the way the lines converge, accentuating the perspective and depth. The canal is very characteristic, as is the surrounding architecture. What a pity the sky was so white, but we can't have everything, can we? ;) Thanks for sharing, the reflections are very pretty.
Warmest wishes and a good week to you
