A morning view of the Place de-la-Cathedrale in Strasbourg.
Beautiful architecture and elegant styled houses around.
This is a wider view of the corner on Rue Mercière.
The WS show the black-wooden corner house, here on right side, when taken from a closer range.
16:9 aspect ratio.

*** Sorry about the lory, stuck on mid-picture, could not wait till it would move. Anyway, it is a part of the daily-life in town.
*** With the help of Alain, here is a useful info from Wikipedia about the black wooden corner house, on far side, the Kammerzell House.

a very well framed, dynamic view of the buildings of the square. There's excellent depth and rich and sharp details, everything is significant and attractive. There's a fine chromatic harmony on the characteristic buildings and I also like very much the graduation in the sky that makes the upper part of the frame more luminous and interesting. In the workshop picture, the old house at the corner reveals magnificent details. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

The wideness of the place is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the buildings. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

questa foto mi piace molto, si sono viste tante immagini della bella cattedrale, ma, credo, è la prima volta che vedo cose c'è davanti e devo dire che anche la piazza e i suoi palazzi, sono interessanti e belli.

Another beautiful town photo. I like the excellent arrangement with diagonal houses position. With the diagonal arrangement and the nice space allowance in the foreground you have created excellent balance and harmony. The light & clarity is very good, all details superb.
Very well done.
Wish you a very nice weekend.

What a pleasant square, adorned with pretty architecture all around. As you said, the lorry is part and parcel of daily life and, in my opinion, is most welcome in this photo.

You7Re capturing well this town scape by a good composition and very excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see a row of the beautiful architectures faced to the square. These are interesting buildings with triangle roof and many windows. It looks like the feather of building which built in medieval times.

Alsace is a beautiful region and its architecture is very picturesque. Very often it is shown with some canals and tiny boats, but your picture is little bit different. There is plenty of space there which make the composition lighter and more appealing. The rows of the houses have been shot from the right angle.
Very good sharpness and pretty, natural colors.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend

Ike, this a large plazza without a central fountain as you can see in many Italian cities, a mix of ancient and new style buildings are visible, nobody at the time of your capture, nice hues, clear picture, all the best, have a good saturday

Hello dear Ike,
Another nice capture and entry from Strassbourg my favorite Alsacien city.
Typical architecture of the region taken with a good pov. But the ineteresting message here that they still keep a standart and do not allow to disturb the citys landscape with highrisers; at least not here at the center.
TFS and have a nice weekend

Wonderful composition of this beautiful square, with a sensational POV including the two most representative buildings in the medieval square, is a splendid sight, I think I did not grasp from this angle.
Very nice these soft colors.
The lighting and sharpness are perfect.
Have a good day.

Must have been a relatively early morning, seems unusual to see a main square this empty!? I guess this works in your favor though to keep all of the attention on this fine display of architectural style. As you mentioned, there is an elegant quality about it, and this wide view offers a good look at the total form as well. I really like the WS picture, the closer detail is impressive. Clear and detailed, there's much to enjoy about this cityscape. Enjoy the day ahead.

Beautiful place with nice architecture and great facade détails on the WS. Well done!
macjake (48363) 2014-02-14 12:25
when i look at scene's like this from Europe, it really does go to show the difference between Europe and North America.
Try to find a city thats constructed and laid out like this here! Not going to happen!
I guess thats why i'm so drawn to it.
the architecture alone is attractive.
we can certainly feel the wide open spaces in this shot.
Cricri (95455) 2014-02-16 9:20
Beau moment du matin ou il n'y a pas grand monde, ce qui permet d'apprécier d'autant plus les façades de bas en haut, bon POV, très belle présentation aussi en WS

Strasbourg won my heart!
I just loved the city, its mixture of architecture, its canal, its flowers, its lovely piazzas and its cafes. How I wish we could have stayed longer to explore further.
You have given a lovely 'flavour' of the city with this shot. Just look at those magnificent buildings, reaching for the sky, with as many windows as it is possible to include!
A very nicely composed shot, with a feeling for space, sharply exposed so that the details are easily accessible.
My warm regards,

Beautiful shot of that place in front of the cathedral. The place was very quiet at that moment. I was there on June 2 and it was full of visitors. Here is an information about the building on the right in your workshop. Its name is Kammerzell House. Here is a note taken in Wikipedia :The Kammerzell House (Alsatian: Kammerzellhüs, French: Maison Kammerzell, German: Kammerzellhaus) is one of the most famous buildings of Strasbourg and one of the most ornate and well preserved medieval civil housing buildings in late Gothic architecture in the areas formerly belonging to the Holy Roman Empire.
Built in 1427 but twice transformed in 1467 and 1589, the building as it is now historically belongs to the German Renaissance but is stylistically still attached to the Rhineland black and white timber-framed style of civil (as opposed to administrative, clerical or noble) architecture.
It is situated on the Place de la Cathédrale, north-west of the Strasbourg Cathedral, with whose rosy colour it contrasts in a picturesque way when seen from the opposite direction.
The building's inside has been decorated on all floors by lavish frescoes by Alsatian painter Léo Schnug (1878-1933). It now houses a restaurant.
Have a nice day.
