Taking a quick detour today in location due in large part to a recent comment received from someone who, by all accounts, shares the same fondness for Paris as myself.
This picture is for Maria (Nikkitta), who knew of this particular café in reference to one of my photos from the opposite corner of this street…one which was posted just a little more than a year ago today. I would most certainly agree with her thoughts as well, this is undoubtedly one of the best neighborhoods for a walk; the Latin Quarter.
I had processed that previous picture in a sepia tone to try and convey a nostalgic type of atmosphere. Hopefully this one will satisfy the desire to see more of the red colors that are plentiful throughout the district. :)
There’s also a much smaller and secondary reason for posting this picture, as the exchange of thoughts and ideas regarding Paris made me realize that it’s been three months since I last uploaded one from here…I knew there had been something not quite right in my own little universe lately! :)
Thanks for stopping by.

Red and black pattern around this corner of the cafe', Jason.
Fine clear view of typical paris streets scenery - people take time to enjoy their cafe'-break.

And I hear: "Aux Champs-Élysées
Au soleil, sous la pluie
À midi ou à minuit
Il y a tout ce que vous voulez
Aux Champs-Élysées" - as a background to this composition. Good presentation of Paris mood, Jason. Thanks for memories.
But last time I've visited the South province of France. I must say it 's not the same.
Have a good day ahead!

What a wonderul and colourful photograph from the streets of gay Paris! And, of course, for those who have visited this magical city, they will recognise this sort of café as just the place to sit with a coffee or a glass of beer and spend an hour or two people-watching and just observing the city go by.
Good composition, lovely light, vibrant colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and clarity.

Paris is just a short hop from here and yet I have visited only a few times and not for such a long time now. This is just how I remember it though and this shot captures the atmosphere and romance of the place succinctly. Wonderful!
another GC shot from me today, thanks to you, and the currant bun is making an appearance here today albeit peppered with heavy downpours. I expect it is freezing today in Phoenix! ;-P

These picture is real a nice moment of Paris.
One question, I would these picture a little bit have cropped to the right side the old buildings are a little bit disturbing against the nice other facades
Splendid picture with a very well quality.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.
On these way create you a lot depth and perspective.
Excellent captured, nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.

Nice post, the black and red colors are quite striking and quite unusual too, not something I see often. They remind me of something and I cannot quite figure out what, perhaps a draughts board? (draughts being euro checkers!!). It is a nice view of the cafe, and it does make me hungry as I think of the hot coffee and fresh food that undoubtedly resides inside. I havent had lunch, and a french patisserie would be a good choice right now.
Sadly, a soggy salad in the canteen will have to do for now :)

Well, I'm late to the Paris party -- and the others have already pointed out the many brilliant elements in this image. Tambien, a mi profesora Maria, mi corazon es en este foto y su dedicacion a ella. Algun dia, deberíamos todos conocemos, tal vez en París.
So instead of repeating all the praise, let me ask -- what is going on in the upper far right of this shot? Is that a tromp l'oeil that has faded? A reflection? Smoke? I just can't tell!

Paris is for sure a very special place on the map of France, don't you think?:) I'm a huge fan of Paris so I needed to stop by and submit a comment.
Someone can say that you have selected a typical café for taking this image but I love the charm of that place and its unique atmosphere which was captured really well. Superb image!

You´re right Jason,
this one has different look and mood, than your sepia shot I´ve just commented, but it still has the same unique charm. If just photos could convey scents and sounds-we would certainly smell a typical French baguette and hustle and bustle of this charming district.
It´s exactly in my taste(I mean the photo not the baguette:)
Really nice and atmospheric composition, that takes us in a journey through picturesque Paris streets.
Take care my friend

hmmmm even just looking at this photo from Paris makes me want to munch down on a croissant and bagel hahaha
and it also makes me feel rich and for some reason successful...why is that? hmmmm....
guess its just the feeling in the air that these French sidewalk cafe's evoke.
love the shot, its warm even though it looks cold.
cool post, glad to see it in color too.
enjoy your day

Looks a really nice area for a walk. The combination of red&black is perfect and you captured a nice atmosphere with the people sitting outside. Guess I should go and visit this city with time!
Gigidusud (13151) 2013-10-27 15:50
Un angle de rue parisien sans aucun doute avec un beau contraste de couleurs gris et rouge. Bravo!

oh, the latin quarter... :)
it has been far too long since i have walked those streets (must fix that!)
i was an au pair in paris back in the day and did actually walk as many of the streets as possible, mainly because it was free to walk and that worked for my budget ;)
i was drawn to your shot because of the red stripes and chairs, i would love to linger there with a nice coffee or espresso, and people watch (and shoot) ~ yum.
so glad you are fixing your little universe lately with this one, many thanks for the mini-break your moment in paris gave me :)
