Resistance activity on the Limousin area led to severe reprisals. During the afternoon of 10th August 1944 SS troops shot then burned alive the entire population of the village of Oradour sur Glane. Only a couple of the villagers escaped. The ruins have been kept in remembrance of the event so that subsequent generation do not forget. The cars within the village remain as they were left in 1944.

Very nice picture rendering very well the atmosphere of the place.
Usually memorials are build for the eternity but here we observe the place is slowly vanishing as the memory of humanity.
I find the subject very interesting, many thanks for the sharing.

Oradour sur Glane a massacre that a lot people not know!
I have the book and a video movie about this village in France.
I am very gladly that you shows these cars in this open air museum with reality images.
Subject and colours are lovely, also very nice quality.

A very powerful memorial. The scary thing is, mankind has not learned from the past and the same kind of atrocities are being repeated.
I wonder if the cars are coated with a protectant to prevent further deterioration.
