Since 1962, Gerhard Richter paints almost everything he fancies... or gets obsessed with: clouds in B&W, color strips based on mathematical reductions, mundane objects (ranging from toilet paper rolls to an ads for a folding clothes horse), variations inspired by ancient masters, streaks in few shades of grey, women (either dressed or in the nude), curtains and candles, wide scale abstractions, out of focus portraits and landscapes, flowers, skulls and dead people, color charts (ranging from 6 to 1024 rectangles), fast cars and fighter planes, etc.
I'll let you guess to which category the painting shown above belongs to.
Watch out! You have only 20 seconds...
Of all the colours, blue and green have the greatest emotional range. Sad reds and melancholy yellows are difficult to turn up.
