Il doit son nom à la Commanderie des Hospitaliers de St Jean de Jéruslaem établie ici au XII eme siècle.
Classé monument historique depuis 1964.

Bonjour Eric,

Belle photo qui nous montre ce fort sous son meilleur jour. Beau ciel et belle lumière. Le petit voilier est évidemment un élément majeur de la composition et contribue à mettre en valeur tout le reste.

what stunning detail and sharpness in your picture. the composition is superb with the little boat balancing the scene perfectly. the light is fantastic, and the colours are very well saturated and very appealing. the sky and white clouds are also superb and finish the scene beautifully.

I like the superb warm vs cold color contrast, between the blue sky & sea, & the yellow red facade of the stone fort. The yacht is well positioned in the frame & balances the composition. Excellent sharpness & punchy light contrasts. Merci et bon weekend!

Strange eric,every time I see photos of Marseille from you,it makes me think about the movie,:The French connection ;+]].

I knew right away this was the city of Marseille, it just has that significant look.
love looking at the Castle, as its colors is marvelous and very attractive. Having the white boat is a wonderful stark contrast in color, and our eyes seem to be drawn to it.
