Hike in beautiful Caroux, Rosis

A short stop at the café of the Héric hamlet, in small hike in Haut Languedoc mountains, in the GORGES OF HÉRIC the brook of the same name, on the territory of the municipality of commune de Rosis.

This is a SMALL CORSICA IN HÉRAULT. In a splendide landscape, we find the CAROUX MOUNTAIN and the ESPINOUSE MOUNTAIN in the PARC NATUREL RÉGIONAL DU HAUT LANGUEDOC. Created in 1973, the PARC NATUREL RÉGIONAL DU HAUT LANGUEDOC, is located in mountainous, comprising 92 municipalities of the departments of Herault and Tarn, or 82,000 people on 260 000 hectares.
The Mountain of the ESPINOUSE, and its mounts, is always associated with the CARROUX mounts in South. The unit constitutes the part more in South of the Massif Central. Espinouse culminates to 1124 m, culminating point of Herault departement.

_ The CAROUX MOUNTAIN of 2414 hectares is a high plateau averaging 1000 meters, culminating 1091 m. Bounded on the west by GORGES D'HÉRIC, east by gorges de Colombières, south it plunges into the ORB valley. Alpine character with its sharp peaks and steep, it offers up to 3000 m of climbing, and miles of beautiful trails.
Rapid changes in altitude and temperature explain a very diverse flora, holm oaks, cane-apple bushes, willows, poplars, chestnuts, ashes, beeches, brooms, heathers, ferns, coniferous tree, foams, lichens.
A very varied fauna, from the squirrel to wild boar while passing by the roe-deer, the trouts, 247 species of birds. One can see moving the golden eagle and the fawn-coloured vultures. In addition, the massive Caroux with over 1000 individuals, has the largest population of France, MOUFLONS OF CORSICA.
The ESPINOUSE MOUNTAIN is always associated with CAROUX MOUNTS at south. The set is the most southern Massif Central Massif Central. The Espinouse peaks at 1124 meters, the highest point of the Hérault.

_ The ORB, coastal river, takes its source at 828 meters of altitude, close to the site “Font d'Orb”, in limit of the communes of Cornus in Aveyron departement, and Romiguières in Hérault departement, in dolomitic limestones of "Causse du Larzac". It runs in the departement of Aveyron, then in the department of Hérault, and flows in the Mediterranean sea at Valras-Plage, after a course of 136 km, and the crossing of a catchment area of 1585 km². Its flow can pass from a minimal flow of 1.4 m³/s to a maximum flow of 1630 m³/s. Orb river description.

Rosis is a french commune, located in the department of the Hérault of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 301 Rosisois in 2009, divided out of 52.9 km², that is to say 5.7 Hab./km².

The Rosis commune located in the central part of CARROUX is divided between the valleys and the mountain.

It Has the name of the one of its 16 hamlets, but the town hall is in the most important hamlet, Andabre.

On September 10th, 1943, proceeded in Douch one of the first important combat of Resistance, during the Second world war, with the maquis of Bir-Hakeim.
