As early as 1653 and in 1654 the first water supply works in the garden were conducted on the site. At the time no democratic thinking existed, as we know well today, it was therefore possible for Fouquet to carry out all he wished on his estate as long as the financial supply allowed him. Where there is a vast château garden laid out today there used to be three villages in existence prior to the beginning of this work. However it is very interesting to note that those villages were reduced to the ground in order to make space needed to layout the plan of the garden according to the master plan conceived by Le Nôtre. The villages with their churches, their houses, their mills, and their vineyards, even their cemeteries were all razed to the ground and the population of the villages were displaced elsewhere. The beauty of the garden, and the splendour of its layout stand on a great sacrifice. Fouquet was not a man of noble origin. However, having achieved the position of the Finance Minister of the King, his pride was already exceeding the intelligence of his own personality. This decision made over the construction of the garden alone somehow already foreshadowed the course of his future career.
Please take a look at the WS image. Various improvements have been made on the overall quality of the photo presented above.

this is a wonderful and very impressive view with great perspective and vast depth. The point of view is excellent. It shows so much about the architecture of the garden in a large scale. I love the colours and the atmosphere, they carry you away and take you back in time. Well done!
All the best,

This composition is extraordinary, Nobu. The geometric shapes below have a marvelous interplay with the softer diagonals of the clouds - and their strength does not distract from the chateau in the distance - only pulls us further into that distance. Well done also the strong colors with just the right amount of chiaroscuro.
I have always had mixed feelings about these grand 17th century building projects. Thank you for your sensitive note. The ghosts of Vaux-le-Vicomte...

There are many striking elements in this image. Your POV is fabulous to show all the interesting details of this amazing place. The perspective is based on the depth concept mainly and seems worked perfectly. There are abundancy of fine colors here and looks so harmonious and natural. I also liked the result of your choice of oversharpening which gave this scene much more atmosphere. Overall a masterful work, very well seen and planned perfectly. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes,

Hello Dear Nobu,
It is sad to know that 3 villages were razed to the ground in order to bring this beautiful garden. I always believe that behind one man's success there are many peoples' sacrifices. Today, we are enjoying this beautiful garden at the cost of many people's pain of losing everything.
The image itself is very rich in colors. I like the way the image is divided int two equal parts. The ground part has the stairs in the foreground taking us down to the garden and to the distant chateau. The view is spectacular. The other par, the blue sky gives a nice contrast in colors with diffusing white clouds. Looks like a painting. Excellent composition.

The photo looks like a masterpiece painting. I like the perspective, and framing that uses the stairs to begin the long view towards the castle. The sky, the light, the colors are very nice. Excellent quality. Bravo.
Have a nice day.

Salut mon cher Nobuccio-san
Even in thumbnail this looked like a painting and upon enlarging it, equally so. I love the vivid colours and the wide-angle. The diagonal lines spring from the foreground corners beautifully, very skillfully guiding the eye towards the centrepiece of the frame. The details of the palace, even though somewhat distant, are remarkably captured. What an amazing place. Merci pour le partage.
Belle journee e caffe matin, Nobuccio-san

This scenery looks as a painting, taken by a master-painter. Vivid in colors, good depth and clear nature's outlines.
Fine photojob, the palace on far is an eyes catching.

Nice capture of this famous gardens in Melun.
Maybe a little bir unsharp (you've mentioned the reasons) but still a good documentary capture.
TFS and have a nice weekend

The expansive photograph and the complementar note puts the great château and its gardens into historical perspective. As always the it is an excellent TE-package, in the best sense of learning geography through photography. In Vienna there is the famous Schönbrunn Palace built by the Hapsburgs (around the 1690s) that Fouquet's Chateâu and its ground resemble. The latter may have been an inspiration for the former.
Warm regards, Nobu,

Hello dear Nobu-san
For sure the WS picture looks better in terms of colours.
For starters - the composition is well done with the lead-in well established into the heart of the picture. The warm colour tones, especially the yellow looks good & nice contrast with the cooler tones of the water & the sky. The chateau in the far distance is of course the main focal point & comes out so
I thought some colour adjustments can still be done in the picture & wanted to do some experiments in photoshop. But I see that you do not permit workshops, so could not post it
With Warmest Regards Nobu-san & have a great Sunday & a week ahead

Ta photo me fait penser à une peinture . Un angle de prise de vue qui donne de l'endroit une image bien large dans des tons et des couleurs très vives qui conviennent à la composition.
Bravo , c est d'une grande originalité
