Photographer's Note

A sailing boat is entering the harbour of Bonifacio at the end of the day. Probably it’s returning to her home berth there after a day at sea, or maybe it’s coming from the nearby Sardinia or even from far away… in any case after sailing for long hours the sailor is tired and burnt by the sunrays and the sea salt and is longing for a safe refuge where to rest. So to the sailor every harbour is home.

The harbour of Bonifacio is a natural one formed by a long and narrow fjord which penetrate into the high limestone cliff and so offers a good shelter from any wind or seas. It’s utilized mainly by the ferry which links Bonifacio to Santa Teresa in Sardinia, by the numerous yachts and some fishermen’s boats.
