Photographer's Note
In the airports, you always have to wait, so it's an interesting time to find something new. I discovered this woman, reading a book, and from the low POV, I could mix her half face and the book cover. My first attempt was blurred (to stressed to be seen taking her), and after she changes of position, so I have to move.

What an artistic POV ! I would call it a very artistic one ! A great aesthetic sense.
You've captured a wonderfully balanced moment.
Very good composition.

an intelligent composition and title, very well thought-through.
I remember a similar photo (book with half a face, girl behind it) on these pages, a long time back, and the idea still works, especially if supported by a play on the title and the concept.
I can picture you shifting and moving until you got the position right :)

Bonjour Claude,
This will most certainly become (or should become) a classic of the genre. The composition, availability of a camera at that moment, your quick reflex action that would have allowed you challenge the fastest 'fast-draw' artists in the Old West...
I love this shot, and will make some room in my Gallery of Favorites to hang it there.
Warm regards,

Bonjour Claude,

Bises.

Hi Claude
I have seen this idea on TE already, a lady on a deck chair with her book half covering her face, problem with that shot was that the bad retouching was there to be seen, she looked like she had the same sized hands as the incredible hulk, yet people feel for it and it was plainly obvious another hand had been comped on. tut tut.
Anyhow, this one is natural, unless your a bloody good retoucher ;-), the execution is perfect, I miss the all over sharpening but with the rules of public photography and privacy laws I expect you were shall I say nervous. Book looks pin sharp though. Good effort here.

Hello Claude,
There has already been a lot said about this photo, but I will add my critique to the list. :-) This capture is great! The timing is perfect, the low POV is wonderful, and it was worth the trouble to keep trying to make this photo. Sometimes we need to be persistent, and daring, to get candid public shots. You were also lucky that she was reading a book with the perfect cover! :-)

Salut Claude ! :)

Hello Claude,
What a fabulous capture!
I always feel very nervous taking "candid" pictures of people in case they get upset. People in Britain seem to be very sensitive about having their photograph taken. Are they in France too? And, of course, in Britain, it is usually forbidden to take pictures in airports.
But, clearly, this girl is so engrossed in reading her book that she hasn't noticed you. And, of course, you used a 200mm lens, so you were probably quite a long distance away from her.
In obviously very difficult circumstances, you have mananged to align the picture on the book extremely well with the girl's face. Perfect exposure, excellent detail and great colours.
Well seen and very well taken!
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

This is so good its really hard to credit its merely happenstance !
I have said before you always seem to put your airport & station waiting time to good use, and you have done so again !
I saw this a while back, and didn't comment, so its a pleasure to find it again and do so now. I guess from your note being too fussy was not an option, but whether the girl would be focussed, rather than the book... Hard to say, and you do what you can..
But, its a real fun pic, right up my street. Its a shame I dont have the same eye as you, or the same cheek maybe !
