Photographer's Note

The basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde watches over Marseille, from its rock of 149 m high.
As a lighthouse, it's a landmark in all the city and for the boats approaching to the port.

Built in 1853 on the place of an ancient little chapel (XIIIth century) and dedicated in 1864, it's the work of the architect Henri Espérandieu. It was built in a neo-byzantine style.

Its silhouette, with the dome and the 41 m high tower with the Virgin and the Child statue on its top is caracteristic of the Marseille's sky.

PS : didn't have a tripod.
