Towards the quay, Sète

On the "Canal de Sète" old "Royal Channel", along the "Quai du Général Durand" and the Quai "Maximin Licardi", between the "Pont de la Savonnerie" and "la Criée".

“Maria-Gilberte” old tuna boat of the Yeu Island of 1942.

It was from May 28th to 30th 2010, the first of "Escale à Sète", festival of maritime traditions in Sète with the participation of many boats, rows traditional, lateen sails, sailing ship, and 3 days of competition known as “Extreme Sailing Series”, with regattas in catamarans “Extreme 40” with skippers among the best in world.

In 1666 Pierre-Paul Riquet created the port of "Cette", Sète.

SÈTE is a French commune of the department of Herault and Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 43 400 Sétois and Sétoises distributed on 24 km², is 1792 hab/km².

In 1666 Pierre-Paul Riquet, who built the Canal du Midi connecting the Mediterranean to the Atlantic Ocean, following the will of king de France Louis XIV, creates the port of “Cette”.
The city was founded in 1673, after the beginning of the construction of the port.
The construction of the môle Saint-Louis, 750 meters length, begins on July 29th, 1666.

It is the town of artists like Paul Valéry, Georges Brassens, Manitas de Plata, Jean Vilar, the brothers Di Rosa.

Georges Charles Brassens, french poet song writer and performer, was born in Sète on October 22nd, 1921, and died in Saint-Gély-of-Fesc, Herault, on October 29th, 1981.

Bonjour Joël,

L'équilibre et le graphisme de ces voiliers est une source inépuisable d'images surtout quand comme ici ils sont situés devant de belles fçades colorées. Les deux navigateurs assis à l'arrière ( la proue ou la poupe? j'oublie à chaque fois)apportent une touche de vei en plus. belles couleurs tendres également.

Il est vraiment beau ce voilier et il semble ne pas être le seul. L'arrière plan est magnifique et le ciel un peu gris ne gâche rien.

Un régal cette série d'images sur ces navires d'une autre époque.La touche de jaune sur la coque de l'embarcation et les toits de tuiles baignés de lumière créent le bon contraste avec le ciel gris.Très bon et beau job.

nice the view of this port with the sailing boats to be anchored in it.The passing by old tuna boat dominates the scene.The threaten sky creates a light that brings out the details of the scene.Well done.

Hi Joël,
There are many beautiful boats in this harbour and here you have included several of them into this capture. I will believe there are some nice seafood restaurants along the quay behind them. I would be a bit worried about the cloud conditions here, I hope it didn´t rain later. A very interesting note!

C'est le bateau que j'ai photographié, je le connais par la bande jaune sur son casque, je suis content de le revoir et cette fois il semble que vous naviguez.

ces fêtes maritimes sont superbes avec les bateaux comme ceux que tu nous présentes et qui font escale; j'ai vu tes photos précédentes, ces bateaux sont de toute beauté comme ici cela se passe à Rouen
c'est un plaisir de voir tous ces différents bateaux aussi beaux les uns que les autres et là le soleil était sous les nuages épais, d'ou un très beau ciel

I like very much the image of France through your eyes.
You show so many unknown places so full of charm and character.
I like composition with boats -they are always interesting for me and here for example there is this artistic mix of the lines which cover almost the whole frame. You caught the scene in an attractive light with a dark sky.
Very pleasant view.

La prise de vue entraine mon regard vers les immeubles ce qui donne de la profondeur à la composition. Elle permet aussi de voir les détails et les couleurs du voilier. Le ciel nuageux donne un bon contraste aux couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Ce merveilleux bateau voilier est le bonheur de quelqu'un. Je ne me plains pas meme de le contempler par l'intermediaire de ta realisation. Merci Joel. Ca fait rever.
