El Mont Blanc (en italiano Monte Bianco) es una montaña granítica, situada en un valle con numerosos glaciares. Es el punto culminante de los Alpes, dentro del macizo del Mont Blanc, que se encuentra repartido entre el Valle de Aosta (Val Veny y Val Ferret), en Italia, y Alta Saboya (Chamonix-Mont-Blanc), en Francia. Las localidades cercanas más famosas son Courmayeur, en Italia, y Chamonix-Mont-Blanc y Saint-Gervais-les-Bains en Francia.

Tiene una altura oficial de 4.810,45 metros (según la última medición en septiembre de 2009), y es el punto más elevado de Italia y Francia, aunque no es la más elevada de Europa, ya que es el Elbrus con 5.642 m, que forma parte de la cadena del Cáucaso.
La situación de la cima es compartida entre Italia y Francia, aunque a lo largo de la historia se han apreciado pequeñas diferencias según las fuentes cartográficas, puesto que los mapas del Instituto Geográfico Nacional de Francia incluyen toda la cumbre dentro de las propias fronteras, lo que contrasta con el mapa geográfico del Instituto Geográfico Militar de Florencia, en el cual los dos estados pasan exactamente sobre la cima. Antonio Napolitano, jefe italiano de una comisión mixta, reivindicó la cima como italiana, como habían hecho anteriormente cartógrafos franceses y suizos.

this shot satify one of my curiosity, i always wondered how it would have been to be up there on the Aiguille to midi. I have been three times in Chamonix but never get the chance to go to.

fantástica imagen del Mont Blanc en un día espléndido, en la cual la blancura de la nieve se destaca sobre un cielo azul muy limpio y crea un bonito contraste cromático.
Me gustan las sombras bajo la arista, que realzan su escarpado perfil y dibujan su relieve.
El plano cerrado con el zoom tiene una gran nitidez, incluso me parece distinguir una cordada de alpinistas ascendiendo por la arista del Goûter, a la derecha de la foto.
Muy bella foto, amiga mía.

La montagne est impressionnante sans paraître redoutable, mais il vaut mieux être prudent. évidemment la neige à la couleur quasi métallique et le ciel bleu sont en harmonie. Une belle image bien réalisée. Bravo.
