Notre-Dame des Anges, Collioure

Retable of the high altar.

This parish church of the 17th century, of southernmost Gothic style with single nave closed by a semicircular apse, was built from 1684 to 1691. Its architecture advanced in the sea is supplemented by a bell-tower which is an old medieval lighthouse, covered with a cupola in 1809.

Inside, the remarkable retable of the high altar, carried out by the Catalan sculptor Joseph Sunyer de Manresa from 1698 to 1701, is a triptych of a 14 meters height and width of 9.30 meters.

COLLIOURE is a French commune, located in the department of the Pyrénées-Orientales of the Languedoc-Roussillon area, populated of 2763 Colliourencs in 1999, distributed out of 12 km², that is to say 228 hab./km².

Collioure is a Catalan village at the edge of the Mediterranean, on the Vermilion Coast, with 20 kilometers of the Spanish border.

The village of Collioure is quoted with 5th and 7th century, but was occupied as of prehistory.
The counts of Roussillon, kings d'Aragon, kings de Majorque, the Spanish sovereigns disputed Collioure and its area until 1643. Occupied by the troops of King of France Louis XIV, the area was annexed in France by the Treaty of the Pyrénées of November 7th, 1659.

Collioure was very known for its anchovies. It is it now for its sweet aperitif wines produced on slopes.

Henri Matisse, 1869-1954, and other initiating painters of the Fauvism, immortalized the city, his lanes, his roofs, his port, his bell-tower, his citadel, his bright light and his strong.strong.

Hello Joel,

Une image bien inhabituelle de collioure plus souvent montré sous le soleil que sous la clarté lunaire.
C'est interessant et très réussi. On perçoit le calme du moment. La composition est bien construite avec ces petits bateaux porteurs d'un peu de couleurs au premier plan.

Hello Joël,
You offer us a closer view on this very interesting church. I like the point of view looking across the harbour with the lovely boats in the foreground. The expose is well controlled allowing us to see detail in the shadow areas with no real hint of any over exposure. The scene has a calm and peaceful atmosphere to it.

J'aime beaucoup les photos de nuit qui gardent un peu leur secrets dans l'ombre. Nul besoin d'être trop illuminé pour saisir les nuances et les couleurs.

une notre dame des anges qui est bien illuminée la nuit, c'est bien d'avoir attendu qu'il fasse noir le doré de l'éclairage ressort bien et même mieux ,beau travail

Bravo, Joel! Très belle photo de nuit sans bavochure, nette et précise. Tu as réussi à obtenir des très beaux reflets malgré la peu de lumière. La photo a une atmosphère très intrigante.

encore une fois l'éclairage doré sur les pierres fait un merveilleux contraste avec le noir de la nuit!Je trouve cependant la photo un peu plus sombre et moins lumineuse que la précédente,et elle est donc moins percutante!Mais composition et cadrage sont excellents!

J'aime beaucoup cette lumière discrète qui révèle ces bateaux dans le port. Par contre, je suis moins convaincu par le format carré qui laisse beaucoup de zones très noires. Je te mets en WS le recadrage que je verrais.

J'aime cette photo pour l'équilibre de sa composition. La grande part laissée en noir met en valeur les bateaux du premier plan et la belle église. Bonne maîtrise de la lumière !
