The Louvre glass pyramid has become one of the most favoured photo subjects and a landmark in Paris despite the controversy the construction of it triggered in the 1980s. Many people felt that the futuristic pyramid was misplaced in the courtyard of the Louvre Museum with its classical architecture. Nowadays people seem to love the contrast between the pyramid and the classical architecture.
Louvre in Paris is the largest museum in France and the most visited museum in the world. Louvre Museum was founded in 1793 and originally it housed the royal art collection. In 1980s the French president Mitterrand initiated a renovation of the Louvre museum. This project was named Grand Louvre. A large entrance hall was built in the form of a glass pyramid, designed by the architect I.M g Pei. The pyramid was placed in the middle of the Cour Napoleon. The pyramid is sourrounded by three smaller pyramids. The pyramid is one of the entrances to the museum.
This is my 3rd picture of a series of pictures of the pyramid taken in the same evening from different perpectives and/or in different lighting. Here is getting dark and the water of the fountain has been turned off and the the lighting that illuminates the Louvre musem buildings has been turned on.

dans d'excellents jeux de lumières, une manière de proposer deux architectures de temps très éloignés les uns des autres.
Excellentes netteté et lumières.
My best regards.

Superbe heure bleue de la pyramide du Louvre. C'est la nuit qu'elle révèle le plus sa beauté. Le mariage d'architectures moderne et ancienne est très réussi. Belle réalisation!

A nice series you are presenting on the Louvre and its pyramid!
Interesting note too, especially about the controversy concerning the Pyramid! I remember it well. It was in the news daily and everyone had their opinions to give!
I wasn't sure about the adequacy of such a modern structure within the classical edifice. But as soon as I saw it de visu, I was conquered. Since then, I have come to like the marriage of modern and older styles, when it's well-done of course!
Your picture taken in the blue hour is beautiful! The orange lighting of the older building and its reflexion on the pyramid have the greatest effect!
Best wishes for Christmas!

The contrast between these two very different architectural styles is enormous, but the two buildings match each other in a very exciting way. You have captured a very nice evening light with some fine clouds.

perhaps the most conventional piece of the series. The perfect realization enhances the contrast between the two styles, the two ages. The nice reflection is an additional value of the photo.

You really found your creative moment here!
So many excellent compositions from different povs...
And this blue hour one is really charming with the warm colours of the Louvre contrasting with the blue sky and with the illuminated pyramid. Very, very fine and expressive. I love the framing you chose.
My best compliments and my best wishes for a

HEj Ulf, such a dashing capture of the a bit controversial Pei pyramid. You made it really shine in the blue light, gloriouslky lit from within. The angle is well chosen - the juxtaposition with the Louver itself is fab. Xcellent work!
Oh, and thanxalot for your very kind words with my previous post!
Merry Xmas !
