The Louvre glass pyramid has become one of the most favoured photo subjects and a landmark in Paris despite the controversy the construction of it triggered in the 1980s. Many people felt that the futuristic pyramid was misplaced in the courtyard of the Louvre Museum with its classical architecture. Nowadays people seem to love the contrast between the pyramid and the classical architecture.
Louvre in Paris is the largest museum in France and the most visited museum in the world. Louvre Museum was founded in 1793 and originally it housed the royal art collection. In 1980s the French president Mitterrand initiated a renovation of the Louvre museum. This project was named Grand Louvre. A large entrance hall was built in the form of a glass pyramid, designed by the architect I.M g Pei. The pyramid was placed in the middle of the Cour Napoleon. The pyramid is sourrounded by three smaller pyramids. The pyramid is one of the entrances to the museum.
This is my first picture of a series of pictures of the pyramid taken in the same evening from different perpectives and/or in different lighting. This shows the fountain and the pyramid. The water cascade is turned off when it is getting darker. In the background the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is seen. It was designed by architects Percier and Fontaine. It was constructed between 1806 and 1808. The Arc of Constantine in Rome was the model of it.

Hej Ulf ,
A different POV here, where you have concentrated on the pyramid and the fountain. The sunset colours are beautifully reflected. A very interesting note too!

Marine
Thank you for this beautiful picture of a place near me since I live in Paris. I work a lot and have not had time to admire the landscape of ice! The colors and reflections of the sky over pyramids are magnificent. Congratulations, . Marine

The light reflecting in the water of the fountain, the pond and the glass of the pyramid is wonderful.

Very fine image and a masterful composition. Good idea to take the pyramid partially and include the fountain fully instead which matches the pyramid and together with it frames the lovely sky. And also the reflections on the pyramid and on the water are very fine, and give a special touch to the image.
Very elegant and moody.

The fountain forms a kind of pyramid too, which fits very well with the spectacular glass creation. The blue and pink evening clouds shine attractively through the glass, and are equally well reflected upon it. I'll be looking forward to the forthcoming pictures from this interesting building which I found quite superbly fitting in this environment on a visit a few years ago.

It is so difficult to find a new way to show iconic places and I can't remember seeing a similar composition to this one. The colour in the sky is reflected wonderfully in both the water and the pyramid; so delicate. Being me, I would have probably used a slow speed on the fountain, but the faster speed you have used works very well and shows excellent symmetry of the various water levels. Excellent shot.

quite obscure, almost mystic - an interesting approach, I like it.
