Photographer’s Note

"Two men in the city" ("Deux hommes dans la ville") is a 1973 Franco-Italian film diected by José Giovanni and starring Jean Gabin and Alain Delon.

Shot made in the centre of Paris from Quai du Louvre, we see Pont des Arts and Pont Neuf behind it. Focal length 179.

This image is striking in B&W. I like the strong presence of the bridge the men are standing on. Nice candid shot and good interest added by the boat just passing by. Nicely presented in the frame.

Very interesting shot taken from an excellent POV. Great choice of B&W. It seems almost like the two men are going to fight a duel, like a scene from a movie. The bridges of Paris makes a great theme themselves, but you adds a whole story to the wonderful scene from the Seine. The boat is a great element to include, and your timing is perfect. Hi Alexander,
I like it... lots of lines, levels and happenings. Well balanced with a man on either side of the frame and facing one another. Square format and black and white works well.

seems that you are back to posting more or less regularly, glad to see that :)
I think this is great, the B&W version works really well to focus attention on patterns and geometry, I like a lot the strong diagonals and almost a staged feel to the scene (and I mean it in a positive sense, fantastic timing to have all elements just in the right places). nice one :)

Three days before you took the photo I was there.
And I like a lot the DOF and composition of the photo.
And black and white was the best choice.
