Photographer’s Note

A view of the Port de Plaisance or Marina at Rochefort, which is located adjacent to the site of the former Royal Naval Arsenal and the Royal rope Factory. Lying on the right bank of the Charente, it boasts 300 pontoon berths plus 40 visitor berths as well as 150 berths in the drydock area.

It's good composition and POV that makes this an interesting image to view. So much good detail to explore.

A nice, peaceful scene. I was in the neighbourhood of Rochefort early june, but did not visit, went to LaRochelle and Oléron instead. Is on my list for the next visit.

This sailing boat with all the cables and ropes and whatever is a fine contrast to the older and stricter buildings in the background. The sea looks very calm and pleasant here!

Hi Stephen, I like the marine theme here. The yachts and their reflections are superb. The vertical frame was wisely chosen and your POV and positioning of the yachts within the frame is very pleasing to the eye. The image has very natural tones with excellent depth. Tes images de Rochefort m'émeuvent, remuant des souvenirs. Le cadrage vertical est bien choisi, et évite d'amputer ce voilier bien placé en premier plan. Excellente image très naturelle, nette et profonde. Bravo.

This is a well composed shot! The vertical format works perfectly here allowing us to see the height of the masts while giving us closeup detail. The reflection is nice adding depth to the scene. Your managed the harsh lighting well here, perhaps a polarizing filter might have helped make it even better.

This is truely a gift for me: I'm a sailor enthusiast and I love marinas and sailing boats. This classic ketch has very fine lines and the buildings in the bg creates a serene and quiet atmosphere. I like also the light that permeates the photo and the clouds in the sky. Good framing and presentation.
