Photographer’s Note

This a view of the Cour Carrée of the Louvre, a major medieval fortress before becoming the magnificient palace of the last Kings of France.

As you know, this is now the place of one of the largest museum in the world. It became a museum about two-hundred years ago, after the French Revolution. There were so many destructions at this time that french politics became aware it was important to dedicate places, national funds and time to the preservation of our historical inheritage.

The enlightment of the frontage of the palace is a real marvel by itself. Don't you think so ?

And if you go through the main gate in the middle of the frontage, you can access the pyramids by night too.
